These year has been unseasonably dry in Osa, with no rain since the first week

Toucan and Nick

Sharing some papaya with a toucan

of January (almost eight weeks ago).  The last 18 months where there was more rain than usual, so everything evens out in the end.

We just received another home design with this one bedroom, open floor plan (about 950 sq ft) starting at only $75,000. It is perfect for those looking for a great get-a-way without all of the maintenance of a large home. If you would like to rent it out through our rental pool it could also become a great income generator.

Last week I had another “Only in Costa Rica” moments. I was driving from San Isidro del General to our home in Las Villas de San Buenas (approx75 minutes)

Costa Rica Sloth

I rescued this sloth in 2012 between Dominical and San Isidro

and between San Isidro and Dominical I encountered a sloth trying to cross the highway. As you can imagine sloths are not the fastest mammals in the animal kingdom. This has happened to me before so I knew that I had to move him out of harms way. What was different this time is that I had my new iPhone with me so I could take a video of it. The quality is a little shaky but I had a sloth in one hand and the camera in the other.

The toucans have been very active this year. They can be heard everyday and I took this video of three toucans in the same tree while standing in my front yard at Las Villas.
